Oracle RAC is a dominant high-available architecture of the Oracle database at present and is used by a lot of users in core systems; however, while providing the high availability, the RAC architecture also faces the enormous challenge of the database performance pressure. The performance bottleneck may occur in many fields of the RAC architecture such as the network, the processor, etc. and the most common performance bottleneck is still from the slow hard disk drive. As the requirement of the application on quicker random input/output is continuously increased, these mechanical hard disk drives are difficult to meet the requirement. Advancement of the architecture:
The architecture adopting the x86 server, SSD solid state hard disk, PCIe flash memory card and software-defined memory as a core is in conformity with the tendency of the IT base architecture and is ahead of the traditional intensive storage architecture and the pure minicomputer-free architecture. The problems of the traditional intensive storage that the capacity expansion operation is complex, the capacity expansion cost is high and the capacity expansion period is long are solved, and the problems of the traditional storage that only the capacity is increased, but the performance is not improved after the capacity expansion are also solved.
High performance of the architecture:
The three key performance indexes (throughput, IOPS and access delay) are accessed on the magnetic disk, which is more than 10 times better than the traditional storage array with the same cost. The RDMA protocol based on Infiniband reduces the consumption of CPU while the IO access delay is reduced, and all storage links are active, so that the high-efficient utilization of the bandwidth is ensured. The network bandwidth between the database nodes is 112Gbps; and the RDS protocol is employed, so that the concurrent processing capacity of the multi-node RAC database is sufficiently played, and the high-load processing capacity of the enterprise in the rush hours of the businesses can be effectively improved. The I/O throughput reaches 12GB/s or above, IOPS (magnetic disk IO request times per second) can reach 900,000 or more, and the access delay of the magnetic disk is less than 0.6ms.
Expandability of the architecture:
As the open x86 architecture and the Infiniband network with high bandwidth and low time delay are employed, the storage capacity, the storage nodes and the database nodes can be increased online at any time so as to implement the capacity expansion at any time and the nearly-linear increase of the system performance and processing capacity after the capacity expansion.
Security and reliability of the architecture:
By adopting a fully-redundant structure, the damage or fault of any part will not influence the availability and the performance of the system. The stored data is also redundant in two portions, thereby ensuring the security of the data.
Humanized management and monitoring:
zData provides good monitoring and manageability and can perform the warning notification in time through various ways, and the powerful command line facilitates the maintenance and management operation.

The present scheme is optimized mainly for the database and especially for the Oracle application, its IO capacity is more than10 times better than the traditional storage.
