Oracle Cloud: Setting up Oracle RAC on Cloud

  In this article we will show you how to create an Oracle RAC Database in the Cloud.

Steps:

  • Login to your Oracle Cloud Services account

  • Go to “Oracle Database Cloud Service" page and create a new service.

  • Select a Service Name of your choice

  • Select “Oracle Database Cloud Service” as Subscription Type

  • Select the SSH Public Key

  • Select the Software Release (Oracle Database 12c Release 1)

  • Select the Software Edition (Enterprise Edition – Extreme Performance)

  • Select the Billing Frequency(Monthly or as preferred)

  • Continue with a click on "Next".

Database Configuration

  • Select a Usable Database Storage ( in GB)

  • Select an Administration Password(which would be used as your sys password)

  • Select a DB Name (SID)

  • Select a PDB Name (PDB name should be selected with respect to the DB Name)

  • Select Character Set

  • Select National Character Set

  • Mark "Database Clustering with RAC" checkbox

  • Continue with a click on "Next".

  Finally, check the configuration and click on "Create" to create Oracle RAC database on cloud.

After a few minutes, Oracle RAC database will be created successfully.

  Click on the service name (CloudRac) to open the main page of both the RAC instances.

  Log into the “Putty” executable client and connect SSH to both the machines as shown below.

  Connect to both the instances and check the pmon on each server.

  You can check for the number of instance in Oracle RAC database as shown below.

  You may use “srvctl” utility to cross verify the status of the Oracle Database.

You can connect to “” user and check the clusterware resource by using “crsctl” utility as shown below.

  You can now connect to PDB database in each instance of Oracle RAC as shown below.

  As you see, it is very easy to create a RAC database in the cloud!!!
